Almost a year has passed since my friend, Denise Harmon, and I went to Georgetown, Texas to have lunch with Al Sergel (www.thetamtamgroup.com) and Jose Diaz (Jose-diaz.org). We were at the table with these two men for the purpose of discussing Denise’s dream of having a worship night for the city of Fort Worth, Texas. The purpose was to bring people together, from all denominations…or no denomination at all, for the simple and pure purpose of lifting up and honoring Jesus Christ as Lord in our region. I had gone with Denise partially because she is my friend and I wanted to support her dream, but also because her dream had merged with mine, to see Fort Worth live up to its name…to be a fort of worth.

Listening to Al and Jose share their hearts for worship I was struck with something Jose said that hasn’t left me to this day. He had been studying the word “worship”, and while I don’t remember everything he told me about how he arrived at this revelation, I do remember the revelation itself. He had discovered that worship literally means: “to bow your head below your heart.” And everything in me shouted, “YES!”

Whether Jose interpreted it as I did or not, I cannot say. But to me, this spoke of the importance of allowing our heads…our thoughts…to be bowed down below Holy Spirit governed hearts. Every thought in submission to, taken captive to, Jesus Christ who lives in our hearts. Yes! THAT…to me…is worship.

Can we even imagine what an entire region would look like if the people corporately submitted their thoughts in obedience to the heart of Christ? And even as I ask myself that question I am reminded of an acronym the Lord gave me several years ago for the word “transform.”

Towns
Regions
Afflicted ones
Nations
Structures/Systems
Families
Organizations
Relationships
Ministries

THOSE are the things HE wants to transform.

I am looking forward to gathering with you March 11, 2017 to bow our heads corporately below our hearts and welcome the King of kings into our region as Lord of All…inviting Him to usher in His Worth to our Fort!
